Hi, I’m Mércia
Transdisciplinary Designer based in NYC.
Systems are like karaoke night: everyone’s Adele under LED lights until someone hits the fluorescents and they show their true faces.
My practice is switching on the lights.

I did these three projects for the Google UX Design Course out of curiosity because, for me, all design is UX (at least it should be). I didn’t understand why people were making up another word to define something they believed was a detached area within design (which is not – but okay). Take a fork. I have no idea who created it, and history can’t pinpoint who it was precisely, but that’s research for another time. For now, the point is, it’s an amazing example of what’s now called UX design, since it perfectly considers both need and user experience – you don’t need to master anything to use it. So, I really wanted to see how UX design differentiated from Design that I learned at college.
A website for pet’s shelters that allows people to adopt animals at a shelter nearby.
A floral arrangement preview app designed to enable users to create personalized floral arrangements and easily send them to a nearby florist.
A platform designed to help users unfamiliar with recycling and selective collection services in their cities, providing easy access to this information and offering a convenient solution for those with limited time to research these topics.
I developed two websites: one for Asmare to attract donations and partnerships by highlighting their historical social work, and the Catadores de Sonhos project website to showcase its activities, processes, challenges, and future aspirations to the general public, researchers, and university students.
